Ekwendeni came alive today as Ulalo joined fellow education partners, school leaders, and community members in celebrating outstanding achievement at the 2025 Mzimba Merit Awards Ceremony.

The ceremony honoured 70 learners, 21 teachers, 6 schools, and 4 zones for exceptional performance in the 2025 PSLCE examinations. This year’s awards follow a remarkable turnaround for Mzimba North rising from position 11 to position 2 nationally in just one year.

With a 94.5% pass rate, up from 88.6% last year, the district has demonstrated what is possible when communities, teachers, and partners work together toward one goal: quality education for every learner.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Sub T/A Yohane Jere, Director of Education and Sports Bridget Nungu, Chief Education Officer Clement Nyirenda, and the Guest of Honour, Education Division Planner Yusuf Mzaliwa.

Jovial teachers join one of their own in celebrating their outstanding achievement.

Speaking during the event, Ulalo’s District Coordinator, Aaron Manda, reaffirmed Ulalo’s commitment to education excellence.

“We decided to support the Mzimba Merit Awards because these achievements reflect the very essence of why Ulalo exists. When learners perform well, when teachers are motivated, and when communities rally behind education, we all win. This is the kind of progress we want to nurture and celebrate,” he said.

Director of Education and Sports, Bridget Nungu, applauded Ulalo for its consistent partnership and meaningful contribution to the district’s education achievements.

“Ulalo has been an exceptional partner. Their support whether in school meals, teacher development, or learning innovations continues to strengthen the education system in Mzimba North. Today’s success is shared, and Ulalo has played a crucial role in this upward journey,” she noted.

As celebrations filled the air, one message remained clear: Mzimba North’s progress is a collective victory.

At Ulalo, we remain committed to advancing quality, equitable, and inclusive education, and today, we proudly celebrate this milestone with the entire Mzimba North education family.
