ULALO SUPPORTS MZIMBA NORTH’S ACADEMIC COACHING

Students show casing what they have learn during the coaches

For the third consecutive time, Ulalo partnered with the Mzimba North Education Division (NED) to deliver an impactful Academic Coaching, held this year at Euthini Secondary School.

The coaching brought together 231 high-performing Standard 8 learners up from an initial 216 who had each scored 400 marks or more in the recent NED Mock Examinations.

The academic coaching is a strategic intervention ahead of the Primary School Leaving Certificate Examinations (PSLCE), focused on subject mastery, exam familiarization, and learner motivation. It forms part of the district’s broader agenda to improve educational outcomes and cultivate a culture of excellence.

“This marks our third consecutive contribution to this important initiative,” said Rosario, Ulalo’s officer Aaron Manda “Our role has been to ensure learners are not only academically prepared, but also inspired to see themselves as future leaders, professionals, and change makers.”

Ulalo facilitated a Role Modelling session, where professionals shared personal stories of academic resilience and achievement. The session aimed to raise learner aspirations and instil values of hard work, curiosity, and perseverance.

Jessy Kapombe, the Chief Education Officer for Mzimba North, praised the event’s collaborative spirit and emphasized Ulalo’s pivotal role. “Partnerships like these are shaping a new trajectory for education in our district,” she said. Kapombe highlighted the division’s recent climb in national academic rankings, moving up from position 18, and urged learners to mentor peers, fostering a multiplier effect.

However, she also expressed concern over the limited number of District Secondary Schools in the area. Currently, only Euthini Secondary School holds that designation. Kapombe commended Ulalo’s efforts in constructing Malokotera Secondary School, calling for continued investment to elevate it to district status.

Representing the Education Division Manager, Rosario Soko applauded the planning and coordination led by the District Office and acknowledged the commitment of teachers, PEAs, partners, and stakeholders. He reiterated the goal of 100% PSLCE pass rates and pledged sustained support for similar academic interventions.

As Ulalo continues to invest in education systems strengthening, its strategic focus remains on scaling academic support, expanding access to quality schools, and sustaining community partnerships to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive.
