Partnership Spotlight: Ulalo × Hello Future

Equipping Young People for a Digital Future

Ulalo is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with Hello Future, marking an important step forward in expanding access to digital skills and future-ready learning opportunities for young people in Malawi.

This collaboration will see the implementation of the HF 101 Digital Foundations programme in Mzimba District, an initiative designed to equip youth with essential digital literacy, artificial intelligence (AI) awareness, and 21st-century skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world.

Building Skills for the Future of Work

The partnership will begin with a pilot programme reaching 120 young people (ages 14–25) at Bwengu and Enukweni Community Day Secondary Schools. Delivered over a three-month period, the programme will engage learners through: Project-based learning, critical thinking and problem-solving activities and ands-on digital skill development

Through this approach, participants will not only gain technical skills but also develop the confidence and mindset needed to navigate the opportunities of the digital economy.

A Collaborative Model for Impact

This partnership reflects a strong alignment between Ulalo and Hello Future in advancing locally led, high-impact solutions. As part of the collaboration:

Hello Future will provide:

  •  Training of Trainers (ToT) for instructors

  •  Access to curriculum, learning materials, and digital platforms

  •  Ongoing instructor support through a helpdesk system

  •  Monitoring and evaluation tools to assess learning outcomes

Ulalo will lead:

  • Programme coordination and delivery

  • Recruitment of learners and instructors

  • Provision of classroom infrastructure and learning environments

  • Local oversight, data collection, and implementation support

Together, this model combines global expertise with local leadership, ensuring that the programme is both contextually relevant and scalable.

Strengthening Systems, Not Just Delivering Programmes

This partnership builds on Ulalo’s broader work in Connected Education and its commitment to strengthening education systems through technology, training, and partnerships.

  • By integrating digital skills into school and community learning environments, the collaboration aims to:

  • Bridge the gap between education and the future of work

  • Expand access to digital learning opportunities in rural contexts

  • Build pathways for youth to participate in a technology-enabled economy

Expanding access to digital skills for a brighter future

Importantly, the pilot is designed to generate early evidence of impact, creating opportunities for future scale-up through government and ecosystem partnerships.

As the pilot rolls out from April to July 2026, both Ulalo and Hello Future are committed to learning, adapting, and building a model that can be expanded to reach more young people across Malawi.

This partnership represents more than a programme, it is part of a growing effort to ensure that young people are not only prepared for the future but are empowered to shape it.
