HOW EPHASSY’S DREAM OF BECOMING A NURSE IS BACK ON TRACK
Ephassy Kaunga’s dream is back on track
Sixteen-year-old Ephassy Kaunga was on the verge of dropping out of school. Her grandparents, smallholder farmers in rural Mzimba, sold their goats to pay her first-term fees. But by the second term, they had no more resources to keep her in school.
Still, Ephassy held on to her dream at Euthini Secondary School, refusing to give up.
Then came a lifeline, Ulalo’s Kula Secondary School Bursary. It covered her school fees, provided essential supplies, and restored her hope.
“When I found out my school fees were paid, I cried. I was free. I could finally focus without worrying,” she recalls.
Her dream is to become a nurse and bring healing to others. With Ulalo’s Bursary Initiative behind her, that dream is now within reach.
Kula Secondary School Bursary at Ulalo in partnership with the support of the Bjørgaas Social Welfare Foundation (BSWF), is a targeted initiative designed to eliminate barriers to education for marginalized youth in Mzimba North and Mzuzu
Meanwhile 20 vulnerable secondary school students in Mzimba North and Mzuzu have been supported with tuition fees and scholastic materials, thereby preventing dropouts and promoting academic progression.
At Ulalo, the vision is to empower young people so they have the means to achieve greatness. Ephassy’s story is proof that with the right support, dreams can flourish
